Description

This is a SMTP server.It works on your computer.
It supports SMTP authentication functionality for security.(LOGIN,CRAM-MD5) and also supports IPV6.
As an additional featue,It enable you to retrieve messages from your web-based mail accounts in your favorite MUA(e-mail client)

Supported Web-Based mail services

When you want to retrieve messages from your web-based mail account in your favorite MUA,
You need to download plugins and copy them in to the directoy where the Blueberry SMTP is installed.
See the end of this page.

Environments

    Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP

Installation
    It is very easy to install.

    Extract bb*.zip in your favorite directory and create a shortcut on the Desktop to bbsmtp.exe.

    Thats all!

    (NOTE)

    This program can work as a service program on Windows 2000/XP.
    When you want to start this program as a service session, once you must register this program as a service.

    To register this program as a service program,

    type in cosole window as

    bbsmtp.exe /service

    after finishing every settings.
Settings
Operation: [menu][tools][Setting]

  • Domain:

      The domain name of your computer.If you have no public domain name, enter your computer name or Blueberry.

  • Admin:

      Current version ignore this,enter your computer name or Blueberry.

    • Mobile:

        If you bring this server on a floppy disk or CD-ROM, check this. If you check this, every setting files are cleaned when ths program closed.

    • Deliver Auto Every [   ] seconds:

        Period for sending mails in [Outbox].

    • Retry send while [   ] days

        Retry days for sending mails, when the destination mail server has some problem. This must be more tha one day.

  • DNS Server:
    • Detect AUTO

        When checked,Bluberry SMTP search DNS server auto. Windows2000/XP only

    • Primary:

        When [Detect auto] is not cheked,you must specify IP address of primary DNS server.

    • Secondary:

        When [Detect auto] is not cheked,you should specify IP address of secondary DNS server.(option)

    • Port#
      • MX:

          Bluberry SMTP listen to this port# for in comming e-mails. Reached e-mails are relay to the other mail server.If you do not hope this leave here default value or set to ZERO.
          (You can't send out going e-mails from this port,this port is incomming e-mails only.)

      • MSA:

          This is a port# for Message Submission Agent  Blueberry HOT listen to this port# for out going e-mails.
          (This port requires SMTP authentication.)

      • MSA2:

          This is a port# for sending messages using web-based mail plugins Blueberry HOT listen to this port# for out going e-mails.
          (This port requires SMTP authentication.)

      • POP:

          Blueberry SMTP listen to this port# for retrieving web-based account e-mails.
          If you do not hope this feature , leave here default value or set to ZERO.

    • TimeOut
      • DNS:

          Time out for DNS.

      • MX

          Time out for MX.

      • MSA

          Time out for MSA.

      • MSA2

          Time out for MSA2.

      • POP

          Time out for POP.(more than 300 seconds are recommended)

      • Options
        • Disable UDP

            Blueberry SMTP access DNS server for searching destination mail server using UDP access first, when it failed,it use TCP access.If this item is not checked,Blueberry SMTP use TCP access only.

        • Generate Message-Id

            When your MUA(e-mail client) does not generate Message-Id header for sending mails, Blueberry HOT generates it instead.

        • Generate Date

            When your MUA(e-mail client) does not generate Date header for sending mails, Blueberry HOT generates it instead.

        • Protocol Log

            When you need protocol logs,check this. Blueberry SMTP makes a protocol log file in a day, and delete it after 7 days.

          Both of two needs SMTP authentication.

      • SMTP Authentication

          Blueberry SMTP requires SMTP Authentication to send messages for security.
          SMTP Authentication types are LOGIN and CRAM-MD5
          (MSA2 speaks only LOGIN)

Register MX


Operation: [menu][setting][Register MX]

Bluberry SMTP searchs for the destination mail server from the mail address using DNS Server for sending mails.

But,When the domain part of the mail address is founded in this list,Bluberry SMTP send the mails to the mail server which is binded to that domain.

This is useful to relay the mails and when the mail server is difficult to find from the DNS server. (for example ,there is no public domain for the mail server except IP address.)

  • Domain

      Domain parts of the mail address. Usualy,It means the host name of the mail server.

  • MX

      Mail server name or IP address:port#

      (example)

      • smtp.mail.com:25
      • 123.234.345.456:25

Register Account
Operation: [menu][Setting][Register Account]

Bluberry SMTP requires SMTP authentication for security. You must register your SMTP account.



Outbox

This is the mail list which are waitting for sending. Every out going mails are stored in  [Outbox]  once.


    • New mails.

    • Retry mails.

    • Error report mails.

List Plugins  &  Preferences for each plugins

    [Menu][Setting][[List Plugin] show this screen.

    You can check installed plugins for web-based mail  &  also check the version of plugins.

    When you press [Preferences] button, Setting screen of preferences of selected plugin in the list appears.

    (NOTE) Not every plugins supports it's preference.




Prxoy setting
Operation: [menu][Setting][Proxy Setting]

Blueberry SMTP use refer to this setting for retrieving mails from web-based mail account.

  • Use Proxy Server

      When you using the HTTP proxy server ,check this.

  • Proxy Server Name

      This is a HTTP proxy server name.

      When you checked  [Use Proxy Server], you must fill here as below.

      proxy-server-name:port#
